Many of you have seen what the CDC is recommending for “safely” reopening schools. These guidelines include no more than 10 students in a class with desks 6 ft apart, no sharing electronics, pencils, or anything for that matter, staggered arrivals, 6 ft distance maintained even during recess, and the use of face masks. Anyone with any ability to think rationally can see that this proposed blueprint intended to ensure “safety” is incredulously far from safe and is downright inhumane. These expectations will deprive our children of the very behavior which naturally makes them CHILDREN.  How can we expect a child to thrive emotionally and academically when their health is being put at risk through oxygen deprivation??

Brand new science (May 28) released from Northern Ireland clearly shows that schoolchildren do NOT serve as vectors for COVID-19. Titled, No evidence of secondary transmission of COVID-19 from children attending school in Ireland, 2020, the study could not be more clear:

These findings suggest that schools are not a high risk setting for transmission of COVID-19 between pupils or between staff and pupils. Given the burden of closure outlined by Bayhem [4] and Van Lanker [5], reopening of schools should be considered as an early rather than a late measure in the lifting of restriction.

If you have children in the public school system you are probably just as concerned as I am. I’m more than concerned, I’m outraged! It is unfathomable that anyone who claims to be looking out for the best interest of our keiki could in the same breath condone this dehumanizing and torturous NONSENSE!

We must stand up and let it be known that WE DO NOT CONSENT!

Reject the CDC recommendations for schools and day cares

Dear Public Servant,

As we mentally prepare ourselves for the upcoming 2020-21 school year (amid many unusual changes due to COVID-19) we find it imperative to express our concern over the newly issued CDC Guidelines for Reopening Schools. While public schools do have a responsibility to provide a safe environment for our children to learn, as parents we reserve the right to decide how to protect our children from illness. We find it very troubling that decisions which will affect our children’s health and well being, are potentially being based on assumption, speculation and belief rather than scientific data and readily available statistics. It should be noted that the CDC has recently issued an official mortality rate for COVID-19 of 0.26% which parallels the common flu. And, of particular importance, only 1.7% of COVID-19 cases and 0.06% of COVID-19 deaths, are from children age 0-17. With such a low infection rate, and a statistically insignificant mortality rate, among children, how can anyone believe these extreme measures suggested by the CDC would even be necessary, let alone reasonable?

The CDC Guidelines for daily school life is deeply troubling not only to us, but especially to our children. As parents who strive to maintain an emotionally healthy environment for our children to grow and learn in, we are appalled by the call for “social distancing” in schools and that our children should be expected to deny the natural behavior that makes them children. To think that they would be denied holding hands with their friends, hugging each other, or even sharing a pencil is unimaginable. The importance of human touch has been widely studied and there is no doubt that it plays a vital function in brain development and overall well being in children. Human touch releases the hormone oxytocin which acts to reduce stress. Bonds are formed between people in this way because the physiological effects of human touch play a key role in developing trust. Interacting with other children and developing trusting relationships is not only important for academic achievement but also happens to be what makes us HUMAN. Limiting our children’s ability to socialize with their peers directly conflicts with the goals of our school system that intend to promote lifelong career building skills. Not to mention that exposure to bacteria and viruses actually promotes healthy immune function and allows for a natural progression of immunity to develop. This is widely known among the medical community as “herd immunity”. Denying our children the ability to freely interact with one another is actually detrimental to their health.

The use of face masks poses a serious health risk and should not be forced upon anyone, especially not a healthy child! To suggest that our children must be subjected to re-breathing their own Co2 for 6 hours every school day is ludicrous. Restricting a child’s ability to maintain proper oxygen levels leads to headaches, dizziness and shortness of breath. How can we expect our children to learn and thrive if their health is being compromised? Not only do face masks restrict breathing, they stifle our voices and erase our smiles. Oxygen is the most vital element for proper growth, health and immune function for any living being. To deny this is to deny our child’s right to LIFE. Our children must NOT be deprived of oxygen in exchange for an education.

We ask you to please recognize the lack of necessity and the tangible danger in adopting these unscientific and unwarranted guidelines and instead take affirmative action in your role as a leader to ensure that our children are given an opportunity to return to school with the freedom to be healthy and happy. We are confident that your decisions will be backed by critical thinking and founded in scientific research rather than blind trust in the CDC. We are eager to know how to prepare for the upcoming school year, including withdrawing our children from public school, if these CDC recommendations are to be adopted. It is important to note that some parents may not be able to home-school our children and will be left with no choice but to comply with any of the CDC recommendations should you choose to implement them in our schools and day cares. We want to make it clear that we will hold you all responsible for any injury, physical or emotional, endured by our children. Your prompt attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.

Extensive scientific proof that the current mindset around COVID-19 is inaccurate:
Journal of American Medical Association:
"Face masks should not be worn by healthy individuals to protect themselves from acquiring respiratory infection because there is no evidence to suggest that face masks worn by healthy individuals are effective in preventing people from becoming ill."
Open Access Medical Journal:
"This study is the first RCT of cloth masks, and the results caution against the use of cloth masks...Moisture retention, reuse of cloth masks and poor filtration may result in increased risk of infection."
Annals of Internal Medicine:
"In conclusion, both surgical and cotton masks seem to be ineffective in preventing the dissemination of SARS–CoV-2 from the coughs of patients with COVID-19 to the environment and external mask surface."
"A medical mask is not required, as no evidence is available on its usefulness to protect non-sick persons."
“COVID-19 deaths are identified using a new ICD–10 code. When COVID-19 is reported as a cause of death – or when it is listed as a “probable” or “presumed” cause — the death is coded as U07.1. This can include cases with or without laboratory confirmation.” (Emphasis added) Meaning deaths are called COVID-19 deaths with ZERO PROOF necessary!
The federal government is finally admitting what many observers have suspected all along: The average American’s chances of dying from COVID-19 are extremely small.
